I spent awhile considering all similar priced standing desks on Amazon, both electronic and crank. I decided on this one mainly for the raised portion. That made it stand out for me and meets my needs. It holds two big monitors and doesn't wobble or feel unstable. The lower portion is great too and overall it's spacious for me. Cranking isn't so bad, just takes a minute really. I preferred crank because I feared that electronic could eventually break and render it useless. Obviously it's not a solid, real wood piece, but I like the finish more than other types of manufactured wood furniture I've owned. Setup was easy too and required two people. Overall I'm happy w this!Wood and steal construction with a nice finish, however the wood is a little soft. I already have a deal scratch on it.A simple effective design with actual wood top. All I need for a home SU desk. Recommended. This crank sit stand desk is wonderful for the price! I’m still waiting on my work to decide if they are making us go back to the office so I wasn’t willing to spend too much on a motorized version just to have the motor poop out after a year, and this desk does the trick. While the instructions are awful, the assembly was pretty easy and I was able to put it together by myself. While it does take a little longer to move the desk up and down than a motorized version, it only takes about 30 seconds so it’s not a big deal to me. I appreciated that the crank handle slides under the desktop so it’s not always sticking out like other models. The only con is it came with a few marks and scratches on the wood tops. It looks like it’s due to the poor packaging and occurs when shipping. Considering the price, I’m not going to complain. In my case, I just turned the planks around to hide the marks which made the desk wider anyway.I wish I could give this desk 4.5 stars, because although I love it and think it's a bargain, I did have one issue with it, to which the company was very responsive. Also, the top is real wood, and the price was about half that of many of the others that I'd looked at, most of which had rather cheap tops. The issue I had was that, while the desk top looks perfectly beautiful, it has a couple of rougher feeling spots. No, you can't see them, and no, you won't get splinters or anything like that -- and I can certainly live with the flaws -- but it's not equally smooth all over. The assembly was pretty easy, but as with most instructions, they can always be clearer. They say you need at least two people, and I'm sure that would have been even easier, but I was able to finagle it by myself, by using the crank to lower both legs to their lowest positions and then lining them up or measuring them to make sure they were even. Then I skipped the first step, and instead did the first part of the second step, and then came back to the first step before completing step two. I hope this makes sense. And, finally, it's helpful to know that the crank pulls in and out, which I didn't realize and almost thought that I'd installed it wrong until I read another reviewer's post. I am happy with my purchase and do recommend the desk. The one I bought is the lighter color with the white metal legs, but the photos I've seen of the teak version with black legs looks nice, too.I was looking for a sit/stand desk for my home office. I was looking at both crank and electric styles and ultimately went with the crank style because it was cheaper and I figured it would last longer than the electric style. The crank is really easy to use. Takes about 30 seconds to go from all the way down to all the way up. I really like the second tier of the desk. Currently I have a 24” and 27” monitor along with my laptop on it. It would easily fit two 27” monitors. I do with it came with a drawer, but it seems like a lot of these sit/stand desks don’t have drawers. I bought a stick on drawer that easily solves my problem though so it wasn’t a big deal.Overall this is a great desk and I am really happy with the purchase (I was also able to snag it when it was on sale!)The top is what seems to be laminated wood, but it's solid. The top and the frame are both pretty sturdy, no wobble at all. You even have the ability to choose which side to put the crank on if you're not right-handed. It says 2 people required to assemble it, but it can easily be assembled with one person. It feels like good craftsmanship for something that came from China (all the holes line up, which seems to be a major issue with products made in China that require assembly). When I first received this, I thought it was missing bolts so I used bolts from Lowe's. If you do not receive any bolts with yours, you can use M6-1.00x10 Metric Pan Phillips Machine screws from Lowe's (Item #755514). 4 packs of 6 bolts cost me $8.34 after tax.I was contacted by customer service within 1 day offering to replace the missing bolts. I eventually found the bolts that I thought were missing. This desk has been an amazing asset to my work-at-home lifestyle. I love that I can crank it up and down depending on my needs for standing or sitting. The quality is beautiful. Set up was a bit difficult because I did it alone and some pieces are heavy and tipped over. But I was able to build it solo (5'4 lady of steel, or laziness, either way, I got it done). I ended up getting an elbow rest extension which helps for using my laptop on the first tier. I have a lamp on the second among other doodads and there's even room for a cardboard cat scratch box for my cat to sit next to me while I'm working. (This was my brilliant idea -if I may say so because I'm saying so- after she tried stepping all over my computer all the time. It works!)I appreciate the crank and while I haven't used an automated one, I like that this won't shut off or get wonky from electrical needs. The crank can be on either side and it works well. Tools were included in the hardware and after a couple of months of using it, it's still working well. Sturdy and beautiful! Worth the buy.ALL UP IN MY FEELSI LOVE this desk.I had a Flexispot riser desk sat on my other desk, but that was too flimsy and I just couldn't handle all the shaking around that my monitor and keyboard was doing, so I shelled out the big bucks on a proper job. My reasoning is that I am now working from home almost exclusively, so it is well worth investing in my surroundings, as I don't want something to look cheap and nasty if I'm going to be looking at it all day. The stain effect on this desk is really nice and the simple, elegant design makes it a fine addition to my bedroom. I'd rather have a separate office to put it in, but I don't, so that's why it had to look good.Furthermore, it's a sound investment in my health. I now stand for at least 10 minutes of every hour. This keeps me fit, keeps the blood flowing, and importantly keeps me focussed on my work. I'm not drifting off to sleep in my very comfy chair that I also invested heavily in (see my other reviews for that!). It also makes me feel like a proper corporate power player, standing up and dictating my notes to my lowly lacky (MS Word) and drinking caffeine. All I need is a Bluetooth headset and some stocks to buy and sell and I'll be living the Gordon Gecko dream!DELIVERYWith my reviews, I knock off a star for every objectively bad element I can find with a product, unless I am aware of it before purchase. With this desk, everything was as described in the listing, if not better. The delivery was on time, everything was packaged soundly and the presentation was logical (all the bits were bundled securely and the instructions were on top).ASSEMBLYPiece of cake. I fancy myself as a bit of a dab hand at DIY and I like building stuff, but the instructions were so clear and everything so straightforward, my six-years-old kid could have put this together. Very easy and it was up in no time.FUNCTIONThree memory settings, which is perfect for me. I have one for sitting, one for standing, and the third is for storing my chair under it at the end of the day (the arm rests don't fit under the desk in sitting mode, so to save a bit of space as this is in my bedroom, after all, I put the desk up a little and glide my chair under it). The noise is not overbearing at all. The function is very smooth and not disruptive or jerky; you can rest a full cup of java on this badboy and watch it go up and down all day without spilling a drop.I'm 186cm tall (six foot one inch) and this fits me perfectly for standing and sitting. It gets low enough that I can keep my forearms horizontal and elbows by my side when typing and the same when standing.THE DREADED SHAKESYes, this can wobble a little when typing, but I've found that to be the case with pretty much all desk and I think it really depends on your monitor type, really. I dislike my monitor wobbling, so I've coupled this with a wall mount that swings up and down. Check out my other reviews for that! As a result, this thing works perfectly for me and my monitor is rock solid while I bash out powerful, earth-shattering memos on my keyboard.OVERALLHighly recommended if you're into standing desks. If this is your first one, again, you'll not be disappointed with this one and I can't see any reason why you'd need another; there are no faults with this, as far as I can see.I've just put this together and have it all set up now. It was relatively easy to assemble and the instructions were clear. Don't over tighten the bolts though - I striped a couple by being heavy handed. Even the supplied tools are good quality. The real wood tops are really nice and look great on the desk. The operation is smooth, although I have my desk permanent up. The supplied mains cable is European so I had to search my house for a UK one. It's just a standard fitting though. All in all, very pleased with the quality and value of the desk.Relatively easy to build and the one-piece wooden top looks good. There is a slight wobble in its highest position but still perfectly fine as a desk (unless you do something stupid, like stand on it!)Good quality table, everything I wanted and worth every penny! No power in the motor
